It has a beautiful mid-size campus located at the edge of the world-famous UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Palatinate Forest. It consists of 12 departments offering more than 100 study programmes to 12,500 students.

Research

The University of Kaiserslautern (TU Kaiserslautern) has a strong focus on science and research. The aim is to promote research excellence by fostering the work of its scientists and creating the optimal starting conditions for junior researchers to achieve top performances. As one of the winners of the first phase, the Graduate School for Materials Science in Mainz (MAINZ) received funding for the next five years of approximately eleven million euros. In collaboration with Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz, TU Kaiserslautern has submitted a request for the continuation of the programme.

Campus life

The leisure time and cultural programme of the TU offers a multi-faceted balance to studying. Moreover, the university’s offer of activities and events is also open to employees and their guests. Thus everyone at the TU truly feels at home.

The university has a Sports Hall in building 28 which includes facilities for badminton, gym, table tennis, etc. Running, hockey, basketball and football can be played in the accompanying sports grounds.
