Udmurt State University is a public university in the city of Izhevsk, Russia. Established in 1931, UdSU is the oldest educational institution in Udmurt Republic.

Today the Udmurt State University is one of the biggest higher education institutions. More than 75 years the university has made an important contribution to social and economical branch of Udmurtia Republic.

There are a high qualified staff and an effective managerial structure at the university. It cooperates with Russian science academies and other higher education institutions. It deals with education process organization, researching work, developing international relationships, making wide net of telecommunication through earth and satellite channels etc.

Last time the university together with plants, ministries and institutions are occupied with building up industrial branch of medical biotechnology. There are trained specialists for oil branch oilmen and geologists, specialists for emergency control, ecology ministries, for all spheres of education, science, culture, sport, economy and law system of Udmurtia Republic.

It is significant, that our students take actively part in scientific conferences, festivals, creative and sport competitions. At the Faculty of Udmurt Philology are founded the famous choir of traditional songs «Tshiptshirgan», the workshop of ethnic fashion «Neofolk». At the social defense institute are organized tourist gatherings, sport orienteering competitions, water and foot trips. At the Foreign Languages and Literature Institute are took place regularly arrangements devoted to national holidays, work the multilingual theater, the choir of German song, the Russian-French theater «Izh-Logos».

The main goal of the university is bringing up high qualified specialists and harmonic personalities, consolidating friendship between students of various nationalities.

In addition to the main campus in Izhevsk, The Udmurt State University also has several other campuses to service other parts of the Udumurt Republic. In the Udmurt Repubilc, there are campuses located in Votkinsk, Sarapul, Mozhga, and Debessy. Outside Udmurtia, there are campuses in Kudymkar, Gubkinsky, Naberezhnye Chelny and Nizhnyaya Tura.

The University Library

comprises over 1,000,000 editions of books and references (both Russian and foreign), as well as periodicals: over 400 journals and 50 newspapers. You can enjoy spending your leisure time at four specialized library departments and two reading rooms of the Library.

Student Life

All the sport activities are available for International Visitors at the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sport (bld. 5). There is a swimming pool, a gym, athletic tracks, tennis courts, grounds for playing volleyball, table tennis, badminton, football, basket-ball in our university .
