About

History

With the founding of the University of Applied Sciences (FHB) in April 1992, Brandenburg on the Havel became a university town for the first time in its history of over a 1,000 years.

Education

We are a young university in a historic townscape offering attractive and future-oriented study programs. Our students learn with colleagues from more than sixty countries in one of three departments: engineering, business and management, computer science and media.

Our state-of-the-art laboratories enable students to experience applied sciences. With our regional partners from industry, business, trade and management, students gain hands-on experience while still at school.

All of our graduate degrees (Master and Bachelor) are internationally acknowledged.

Research

Services

Student services

The International Office provides foreign applicants, students and partner institutions with information about Brandenburg University of Applied Science, degree programmes and exchange programmes.

Housing services

The university provides a dorm on campus close to the lecture halls. Upon admission, you will receive the request form for a room reservation along with your registration papers. We offer furnished rooms in a shared apartment for 2-6 students or single apartments.

For those students who do not want or cannot get a room in the dorm, we recommend arriving in Brandenburg well before the beginning of the term in order to find accommodation in the private sector. The Allgemeiner Studentenausschuss (AStA) offers assistance in finding accommodations.

Library services

The library has its home in the restored former stables and offers spacious rooms with a voluminous literature collection, and advanced, technical equipment.

The library shelves contain 42,000 volumes. For reading and studying, the library offers a spacious reading room,where students can choose from 259 subscribed newspapers and magazines.

ICT services

The computer centre is responsible for the communication infrastructure of the university. The planning and development of the local network is the basis for the link between the library, computer science department, engineering department and employs the latest technical standards.

Student Life

Sports facilities

How about a workout? The students’ association offers a wide range of sports such as archery, rugby, gliding, and Zumba. In summer, the focus lies on activities in and on the water - you can rent sailing boats and canoes, take sailing courses or ride in a Dragon boat.

In town there is an inexpensive swimming pool (whirlpool and sauna) as well as a theater, two cinemas and various nightclubs. If you want more nightlife, Berlin is a stone’s throw away.
