History

Founded in 1924, the University of Trieste is a medium-sized university with a student population of approximately 20,000.

Education

The University offers a wide range of degree programmes at bachelor, master and doctoral level as well as short vocational masters, advanced masters and specialisation programmes, most of which are in the medical area. Some degree programmes are taught in English.

Research

According to the Times Higher Education 2013, the University of Trieste is among the top 400 universities in the world and was ranked second in Italy on an overall score for teaching, international outlook, research, and industry income. It is also among the top 300 universities in the world in the Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities 2013 published by the National Taiwan University Ranking.

Career

Thanks to over 2,300 work experience agreements with public and private institutions and companies and to hundreds of agreements for international exchanges and postgraduate courses at all levels, Trieste graduates will have favorable employment prospects in an extremely competitive job market at both national and international level.

In collaboration with ERdiSU, the regional authority for student support, the University of Trieste offers a range of services intended to provide appropriate support to students with special needs. These services include:

Students with special needs are also entitled to financial aid in the form of fee waivers or reductions and allowances.

Housing services

Students enrolled at the University of Trieste can apply to ERdiSU, the regional authority for student support in higher education, for accommodation in student residence halls.

Accommodation is assigned on the basis of academic merit or according to financial circumstances. A selection procedure is carried out every year by ERdiSU. Applications can be made online in the ERdiSU website.

Library services

The Library System at UniTS has 15 branches offering an expanding collection of print and electronic materials. The services offered by the library system includes: OPAC searches of the university library; assistance in bibliographic searches; inter-library loans; remote access to resources from and through the university wireless network; access to OpenStarTS.
