Ben-Gurion University of the Negev aspires to be among the best inter-disciplinary research universities in the world, a leader in scientific innovation, inter-disciplinary research and applied sciences – all of which impact daily life. It is committed to social and environmental responsibility and is working to develop the Negev, Israel and the world.

The University attracts excellent students and researchers from Israel and abroad, original thinkers with a developed social conscience, who integrate into the country's leadership in a variety of ways.

It has around 20,000 students and 4,000 faculty members in the Faculties of Engineering Sciences; Health Sciences; Natural Sciences; the Pinchas Sapir Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management; the Joyce and Irving Goldman School of Medicine; the Kreitman School of Advanced Graduate Studies; and the Albert Katz International School for Desert Studies.

More than 100,000 alumni play important roles in all areas of research and development, industry, health care, the economy, society, culture and education in Israel.

The University has three main campuses:

The Marcus Family Campus in Beer-Sheva; the research campus at Sede Boqer and the Eilat Campus, and is home to national and multi-disciplinary research institutes: the National Institute for Biotechnology in the Negev; the National Institute of Solar Energy; the Ilse Katz Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology; the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research; the Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel & Zionism, and Heksherim - The Research Institute for Jewish and Israeli Literature and Culture.

Libraries

The University libraries offer a wide variety of high-quality and up-to-date academic resources - books, theses, films and maps- online and in print. The librarians provide individual and group instruction in locating information/materials and assist in the use of databases and other information sources, both in the library and remotely. In addition, the libraries provide environments and tools to suit the students needs: computers, quiet study areas and areas for group study, a wireless network, technical support, etc.

Student Life

BGU is known for its warm atmosphere and vibrant campus life. With the Zlotowski Student Center building located in the heart of the campus, two movie theaters, a state-of-the-art sports center, swimming pools, pubs, restaurants, 24-hr computer libraries, espresso bars and comfortable dorms, we ensure that you enjoy a healthy balance between study and play.

BGU also offers a wide variety of social and cultural programs where you can try anything from belly dancing to guitar classes, live musical performances to group sing-alongs, fascinating lectures to desert hikes. There is something to suit every student and interest.
