The Master of Science in Human Services program is designed for professionals who are committed to improving the quality of life for all people in the growing field of human services. The program is designed to prepare current professionals for leadership positions in a variety of nonprofit, government, or private agencies that help drive positive change for families and communities. 

About

The curriculum prepares human services professionals to pursue leadership positions and to become advocates for change. You'll focus on the delivery of services; accessibility; the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions; as well as the planning, administration, and coordination of programs.

This program is designed to help you:
  • Examine broad organizational roles and functions and various methods of advocacy
  • Apply appropriate strategies using a theoretical and philosophical framework built on values of the human services profession
  • Assess information related to service delivery, including data analysis, and the interpretation and evaluation of findings
  • Evaluate personal expectations, values, ethics, and self-care strategies as they relate to professional practice
  • Analyze scope of populations served and appropriate methods of service delivery based on individual needs
  • Apply skills, strategies, and knowledge related to design, implementation, and evaluation of human services programs

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).     The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

To apply to Kaplan University’s graduate programs, you must:

  • Submit an unofficial transcript indicating receipt of a bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • By the last day of the first term, you must provide the University with an official copy of the transcript. If an official transcript is not submitted by this time, you will be withdrawn from the University, blocked from reentry, and your academic credentials will be withheld until such documentation is provided.
