Chemoinformatics and Molecular Modeling Master's degree programme is delivered by ITMO University in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg (France). The programme focuses on training top quality professionals willing to pursue their career in the sphere of modern pharmacology and computerized drug design.

The Chemoinformatics and Molecular Modeling Master's degree programme:

  • Offers an opportunity to take internships at the leading international biomedical companies and research centers.
  • Provides access to state-of-the-art research facilities of ITMO University and the University of Strasbourg.

Today, chemoinformatics is rapidly gaining popularity among “young minds” as well as representatives of different companies. Would you like to become an ingenious scientist who is able to decipher human genome and reveal the secrets of the human body functioning? If yes, this program is for you!

Chemoinformatics is one of the promising directions in Information Science dealing with storage and transfer of data in biological systems. With rapidly developing science and technologies, the global market demands more experts in such high-tech industries as computational pharmacology, computer-aided drug development, tailor-made molecular structures design and big data processing and visualization.

Furthermore, the development of medicines is becoming more relevant. If sixty-seventy years ago chemists used to do it based on their personal experience, nowadays we can and we should learn how to automate this process.

Career Options: genetic counseling in family planning, embryo screening after IVF, prenatal and neonatal diagnostics of hereditary diseases, routine diagnosis of tumors etc.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score:

The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

  • Minimum required score:

The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading). The writing part of this test is scored separately on a scale of 0-6. Read more about TOEFL (PBT).

  • Minimum required score:

The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3
Recommended score: 3.8

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of 3.8 or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or equivalent with good/excellent grades. Upper-intermediate level of English. Basic level of French (preferable). For admission to the partner university IELTS or TOEFL may be required.
