CEMS is a global alliance of 30 leading business schools, close to 80 multinational companies and NGOs which together offer the top-ranked, international and practice-oriented CEMS Master’s in International Management (MIM) programme. The Global Management Master Programme is offered by the Aalto University.

Earn two qualifications at the same time

The Master’s Programme in Global Management (GM) offers the students two highly prestigious qualifications: MSc in Economics and Business administration granted by Aalto University School of Business and CEMS Master’s in International Management (MIM) granted by CEMS, the Global Alliance in Management Education.

The programme consists of:

1. a specialisation track with a Master’s thesis in one of the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Corporate Communication
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management
  • Finance
  • Management and International Business
  • Marketing or
  • Strategy; and

2. CEMS MIM studies conducted at Aalto University and at another CEMS school.

During their first MSc year, students complete the specialisation track courses and the Master’s thesis. The second year incorporates most of the CEMS MIM components, including an exchange semester at another CEMS school.

In addition to the Aalto MSc degree, the student has to complete an international internship and fullfil CEMS MIM language requirements in order to obtain the CEMS MIM diploma.

Study experience

The Global Management MSc programme with CEMS MIM has a fixed, carefully designed curriculum, and it calls for ambitious students interested in growing professionally as well as personally to assume ethical and responsible leadership roles in the future.

Students learn to solve interdisciplinary problems in an international context and are encouraged to adopt an analytical and critical approach in lectures, discussions and project works.

The CEMS Corporate partners contribute to numerous curricular activities:

  • Company visits

Outside of academic activities their student life is enriched by activities of the CEMS Club and other student associations. The CEMS experience continues even beyond graduation in the global alumni network.

Learning outcomes

Global Management programme grows confident, agile, and reflective decision-makers that will be able to apply innovative solutions to complex international business challenges. In addition, students will be able to specialise in their chosen discipline.

Upon completion of the programme students will be able to:

Career opportunities

The graduates of the CEMS MIM programme have exceptionally good career perspectives. Over 90 % of all CEMS-graduates are employed in less than 3 months from their graduation. Almost half of them work outside of their home country and approximatelly 40 % now work for a CEMS Corporate Partner.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score:

    7

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

    The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

  • Minimum required score:

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).   • Minimum required score:

    100

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

  • You need the following GMAT score:

    Required score: 550

    The GMAT - or Graduate Management Admission Test - is a frequent requirement for admission at management and business schools across the world. The GRE score ranges between 200 and 800 and measures the verbal and quantitative reasoning of test-takers. Read more about the GMAT.

Admission Requirements:

The admission group depends on the degree you are applying with. Only applicants with a lower university degree in “Economics and Business Administration” completed in a university in Finland apply in Admission Group 1. The name of the degree is kauppatieteiden kandidaatti, KTK in Finnish. All other applicants apply in Admission Group 2. More information on admission groups is on the admissions page.

Programme-specific requirements

The eligibility criteria of the Global Management Programme (and CEMS MIM) are:

  • 60 ECTS of business related studies (corresponding to one year of full time education at university level)
  • Language requirements.
