About

The Electric Power Engineering master is offered by the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. This programme is designed for those of you who would like to work within the areas of: management, systems and/or components within electric power engineering.

The Electric Power Engineering Programme is taught in English in the following areas:

  • electric power systems and markets
  • power system operation control and automation
  • power electronics and drives
  • modelling of electrotechnical equipment
  • management of power systems

This programme will enable the master’s student to develop a comprehensive understanding of the field, with specialisation in one or two of the areas, giving them a sound foundation enabling them to enter a professional role in industry or academia.

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).     The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

To be eligible for the programme, you must have been awarded a bachelor's degree, be proficient in English and meet the programme-specific requirements.

Programme Specific requirements

    A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, corresponding to 180 ECTS credits, with courses in
    • Electrical Engineering (including three phase electrical circuits and/or machines) equivalent to 60 ECTS credits
    • Mathematics (including calculus, numerical methods, algebra, probability theory and basic control theory) equivalent to at least 30 ECTS credits.

    Funding

    Every year a limited number of KTH Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence. Recipients of the KTH Scholarship will have their tuition fee waived for the first and the second year, provided that the study results during the first year are satisfactory.

    Applications for the KTH Scholarship for studies beginning in autumn will be open December 1 - January 15.
