The Master's program European Master's Program SELECT from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) starts from the concept of basic renewable energy sources and considers the pathways towards a future sustainable energy system. The target is always minimal environmental impact, whatever the kind, throughout the whole energy conversion chain from primary source (sun, moon, geothermal) to delivered service. International Cooperation

The Master's program SELECT is a joint program run by top European universities. Its close collaboration with industrial partners makes the program a unique learning experience. Moreover, our strong international mobility concept will allow you to spend two years in two different universities and take an internship in a third country.

Graduated and then?

Students graduating from the SELECT master's program will have gained experience in multidisciplinary problem analysis and problem solving in the field of sustainable energy.  They also have acquired a unique network of fellow students, SELECT alumni and industry specialists in the field of sustainable energy.


The SELECT master's program at TU/e forms a track within the master's program Sustainable Energy Technology (SET). The SET master's program is legally recognized by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).

Programme Structure

Year 1 
  • The first two terms of the SELECT master's program are spent at either KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) or Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) with courses in sustainable energy conversion, environmental pathways and training in entrepreneurship. 
Year 2 
  • During the second year, the knowledge is further deepened in one focus area chosen by the student, including the thesis work. The second year takes place at one of the partner universities participating in the SELECT master's program.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.

    The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Before applying, make sure you can meet all the admission criteria:

  • A completed Bachelor’s degree (worth a minimum of 180 ECTS credits)*
