About

The unique dimension of the Master of Music at Fontys University of Applied Sciences is the personalized component: students receive a two-year scholarship and can tailor the program in accordance with the needs of their emerging career. Students may use their scholarship for taking courses with professors at Fontys and even with external professors and artists. Before the entrance exam, it is important to think about your career goals. In your personal development plan, you outline your professional goals for the upcoming years of study. This plan supports your personal qualities and interests, and sketches where you see yourself as a professional in two years. Your plan will be evaluated by the exam commission and is part of the application procedure.

Graduation profiles

As a student, you can choose one of two graduation profiles:

  • Performance
  • Performance with focus on education

The Performance profile emphasizes performance during your career as a Master’s student. When you choose the profile Performance with focus on education, you will follow a lecture series on education. In addition, your research project will be education-oriented. As the majority of students usually opt for the Performance profile, the education programme is only offered when at least five students apply for this profile

Accreditation

The joint Master of Music programme at Fontys and the Maastricht Academy of Music has been accredited by the NVAO, the organization for accreditation in higher education in the Netherlands and Flanders.
