When you start the Master's Program Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) you immediately choose one of the department's specialization tracks. These specializations represent the different research areas of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Graduated and then?

Programme Structure

Computational and Experimental Mechanics

  • The specialization Computational and Experimental Mechanics focuses on the design of products based on the materials of which they are made and the design of the process conditions that determine the product characteristics. 
Dynamical Systems Design
  • The specialization track Dynamical Systems Design has a focus on predicting and influencing motion or vibration in the operation of equipment and dynamic systems amongst which machines, products and manufacturing systems.
Thermo Fluids Engineering
  • Thermo Fluids Engineering focuses on the design and optimization of gas and fluid flows in installations and products such as solar panels, turbines, combustion chambers and heat exchangers. 
Micro and Nanotechnology
  • You will learn how to design parts, products, processes and systems at minimum scale (with micro and nano-precision) and how to assemble them.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

There are a number of general requirements for admission to this Master's degree program:

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent, based on a program of sufficient academic level and quality to be able to complete this Master's program.
  • A Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 75% of the scale maximum. Students hoping to participate in selection for the ALSP scholarship require a CGPA of 80% minimum.
  • You must be able to demonstrate sufficient command of the English language in which the program is taught. To prove sufficient command of the English language you should submit an Academic IELTS or TOEFL test.
