This program develops expertise in relation to communication design practice, with a focus upon design entrepreneurship and strategic design thinking.


You will engage with current developments in the global communication design industries, and with the key concepts and processes underpinning this constantly evolving sector.

Through your studies, you will develop expert knowledge and specialised technical and creative skills that will prepare you for professional roles in a variety of environments, including communication design studios, digital design consultancies, design teams within other organisations, and in independent practice. You will be able to work independently or in teams, and you will be able to communicate confidently with allied professionals.

You will be taught by a team of nationally and internationally renowned practitioners and educators. On completion of the program, you will be an advanced communication design practitioner able to contribute to global industry developments and design innovation.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading). Entry requirements
  • You must have successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in a relevant discipline.You may also be considered if you have a minimum of 3 years professional experience in the graphic design, communication design and/or visual communication area.
Selection tasks
  • Pre-selection kit: You are required to submit a completed pre-selection kit along with your application.
English language requirements
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
