An in-depth program providing current or aspiring managers with high-level expertise in planning, directing, implementing and monitoring an organisation's marketing effort.


You will understand the role of marketing and its relationship with other important functional areas in management to get an all-of-business view, and develop appropriate marketing tactics and strategies. You will learn how to design and undertake marketing research, identify and improve your personal management skills, and develop a breadth of knowledge by exploring a number of specialist areas such as consumer behaviour, brand strategy, services marketing, product innovation, marketing communication and social marketing.

Students and graduates are eligible to apply for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research Society.

Programme Structure

  • The master degree comprises core and elective courses. You will be able to select six electives that can both deepen and broaden your knowledge of marketing, and will complete a practice-based marketing research project.

  • In both delivery models, you will explore a complex problem, and test and evaluate potential solutions with industry and community stakeholders in the compulsory course, Business Research Design.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading). Entry requirements

You must have successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) or higher level qualification in any discipline and evidence of a minimum 1 year full-time (or equivalent) work experience in a business or marketing role.

1.5 year duration

You must have successfully completed:

An Australian Bachelor degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in Business (or a related discipline) and evidence of a minimum 1 year full-time (or equivalent) work experience in a business or marketing role;


The RMIT Graduate Certificate in Marketing.



Selection tasks

Statement: You must include with your application a statement outlining your work experience in a business or marketing role. A reference letter from your employer should also be provided with your statement.

English language requirements
