Royal Military Academy

The Royal Military Academy is a military institution of university education responsible for the basic academic, military and physical training of future officers, and for the continuing advanced training of officers during their active career in the Defence department.



In 1834, Lieutenant-Colonel Jean-Jacques Edouard Chapelié, a former student of the Ecole Polytechnique, was assigned with the mission of establishing a school for the education of Belgian officers. He became the first commander of the Military Academy.
