Compared with other universities, the Universität zu Lübeck is small, with just 3,400 students – but boasts a good teacher-student ratio. The high standings of our computer science and medicine students underscores the high standard of our teaching and education.



In 1973, the Universität zu Lübeck became an independent scientific institution in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. We offer degree programmes in medicine, computer science, engineering, and natural sciences. Interdisciplinary programmes encompassing natural sciences, computer science, and medicine offer practical and up-to-date education underpinned by the highest standard of healthcare.


The traditional programme in medicine is complemented by accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the mathematics, computer science, engineering, and natural sciences departments.

Campus life

The Lübeck Student Village at Anschützstraße 11/15 has rooms for students attending the University of Lübeck, the University of Applied Sciences, or the Academy of Music. This village was set up by the Schleswig-Holstein Student Services Association, Westring 385, 24118 Kiel. Rooms are also available in the Anschützstr. 5-7b, Alfstr. 5a and Fischstr. 6b/, along with three apartments in the Füchtingstr. 3, 23558 Lübeck.

  • The members of this board include delegates from universities, comprising two each for every 3,000 students. Per the statues, half the delegates must be students elected by their respective council at the university, and the other half is appointed by this governing body. The goal is to appoint university teachers/professors and well-known personalities with professional backgrounds from within the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
