Wilfrid Laurier University

Brantford, Canada
Wilfrid Laurier University recognizes that intellectual inquiry, critical reflection and scholarly integrity are the cornerstones of all universities including our exceptional institution. Our unique values are drawn from the key elements on which Laurier was founded and which will continue to nurture and shape what we become.

For more than a century, Laurier has been known for academic excellence. But they have also been dedicated to the philosophy that the students success is measured through more than grades its based on the quality of the lives they lead, and those they inspire.

They strive to ignite the minds, spirits and hearts of the communities through excellence in teaching and learning, in the discovery, scholarly exploration, and application of new ideas, and in instilling the courage to engage and challenge the world in all its complexity.Wilfrid Laurier University is devoted to excellence in learning, research, scholarship and creativity. It challenges people to become engaged and aware citizens of an increasingly complex world. It fulfills its mission by advancing knowledge, supporting and enhancing high-quality undergraduate, graduate and professional education, and emphasizing co-curricular development of the whole student.

Whether in science, business, arts, music, education, social work or any of the other disciplines, Laurier researchers tackle local and global challenges through nearly two dozen research centres and institutes often combining disciplines to explore problems from multiple angles.

Student Life

Campus life

Study in a thriving, busy city with culture to spare. Or study at campus where you’re never far from your latest outdoor adventure. Laurier offers both worlds: our campus in Waterloo boasts a close-knit university community in the heart of a tech-savvy city, while the campus in Brantford provides a downtown campus experience within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and entertainment. And both are just an hour away from Toronto.

Sports facilities

The Athletic Complex (AC) in Waterloo includes an Olympic-size pool, a triple gymnasium, dance studios, and a large fitness centre that received a $5-million expansion in 2013. Outside, Alumni Field offers a full-sized, FIFA-certified, artificial surface for both intramurals and club teams. University Stadium is home to Golden Hawk football, soccer, rugby and lacrosse. If you’re not on the field, find a spot in the bleachers and show your Golden Hawk spirit.
