Depaul University

Chicago, Illinois, United States
Guided by the university's 2018 strategic plan and its mission statement, the Office of Mission and Values collaborates with university departments and constituencies in ways that measurably enhance their understanding and support of DePaul University's distinctive Catholic, Vincentian, and urban identity. Together we provide the leadership that enables the university to achieve excellence in its educational mission, serve its diverse student body, and maximize its strategic capacities. As the premier international resource for Vincentian studies, the Office also serves a wide range of external constituencies who seek to deepen their engagement with Vincentian history, spirituality, and service.

With just 70 students when it was founded in 1898, DePaul has grown to become the nation’s largest Catholic university. DePaul, named for St. Vincent de Paul, has maintained its commitment to serve students who might otherwise be denied a quality education, from turn-of-the-century women and returning veterans to first-generation, low-income city residents.

  • With our status as the largest Catholic University in the country and our location in the Midwest’s largest city, it’s not surprising that a diverse body of undergraduate students comes to DePaul from throughout Illinois and across the nation.
  • We offer more than 100 graduate and doctoral degree programs — with flexible options to take courses at night, during the day or online.

Research at DePaul takes you beyond knowledge-building in the classroom to knowledge-discovery across campus, in city of Chicago, and beyond. And research here isn’t just for faculty and graduate students. Our faculty is dedicated to providing undergraduate research opportunities across all 10 colleges.

Career Advisors can assist you with choosing a major, identifying career options and trends in a particular field, deciding whether to attend graduate school, developing a resume, preparing for the interviewing process, negotiating a compensation package, making a career change and more.

Campus life

Chicago itself is an ideal classroom, filled with learning and service opportunities, and many DePaul connections. It takes place at the beginning of the academic year on both campuses and again at the start of winter quarter, and introduces students to student clubs, groups, organizations and on-campus activities.
