History

Our history reflects we were destined to be a campus of innovation. As the youngest of the 23 CSU campuses, CI has an energy and vibrancy that’s felt everywhere on campus. From the start, we’ve offered integrative courses and programs that emphasize real-world experiences and service learning.

Library services

The John Spoor Broome Library enhances the CI mission of interdisciplinary, international, multicultural, and service learning through active collaboration with students, faculty, and staff to plan, implement, promote, and access the use of collections and services and support student learning via its robust information literacy program.

Medical services

CSU Channel Islands Student Health Services (SHS) is an outpatient medical clinic whose staff is dedicated to providing compassionate, accessible and professional health care to CI's diverse student population. The clinic is affiliated with the Ventura County Medical System.

Campus life

CI’s beautiful campus in Camarillo is midway between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and just 25 miles from Malibu. We’re nestled against the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains—and not far from the Pacific Ocean.

Sports facilities

The Recreation Center is home to the Health and Fitness component of Campus Recreation. The fitness area provides opportunities to develop cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance and flexibility. Cardiovascular amenities of the fitness center include treadmills, stair climbers, recumbent cycles, stationary cycles and elliptical trainers. The resistance training amenities include selectorized Cybex stations, a power cage, a cable crossover, a selection of free weight benches, a large selection of dumbbells from 2 – 120 pounds, and more than 2,000 pounds of Olympic plates.
