The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. This transformative initiative provided the opportunity to expand educational opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley, and made it possible for residents of the region to benefit from the Permanent University Fund.
UTRGV Continuing Education (CE) extends the educational resources of the university to help individuals remain competitive in the global workforce. Designed for personal enrichment and professional development, our non-credit programs and courses combine superior instruction with state-of-the-art resources to offer immersive experiences that are affordable and convenient.

Student Services is dedicated to provide support to students in resolving a diverse number of obstacles faced along the way to a successful achievement of their academic career.
Accommodations provided are unique to each individual and are based on the nature of the disability and the resulting functional limitations. UTRGV is not required to provide a student’s first choice of accommodation as long as the accommodation provided is effective. Accommodations that are considered “unreasonable” are those that would result in a substantial change in an essential element of the curriculum, require a substantial alteration of a program or service, be an undue financial or administrative burden, or pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
The Health Clinics offer the same types of services you can get from your family doctor and much more. Our services include general medical care as well as specialty clinics in Women's Wellness, Skin Care, and STD Screening. We also have routine immunizations and TB testing required by many educational programs at UTRGV.

The Fitness and Wellness department at University Recreation offers group exercise, personal training, and a variety of fitness equipment to promote health and well-being. Our programs and services offered and intended to be interactive, fun, and educational. Most of our programs are free or reduced costs for members.
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) has been placed on probation for 12 months by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). UTRGV remains fully accredited by SACSCOC while on probation.
