About

History

In more than 125 years, the sweep of history has carried Morehead State University and its predecessor institution, the Morehead Normal School, from one makeshift classroom to the high-tech world of Internet-based classes and a radio telescope/space tracking system which reaches from a campus ridgetop literally to the stars.

Education

The General Education Council, a University Standing Committee, will be responsible for the management of The General Education Program at Morehead State University. The General Education Council will be chaired by the General Education Director which will be appointed by the Provost. Council members will address the assessment procedures and course management of the general education curriculum.

Research

MSU has 135 undergraduate and 70 graduate degree programs in four colleges: Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; College of Business and Technology; College of Education; and College of Science. MSU offers associate, baccalaureate, masters, specialist, and doctoral degrees as well as undergraduate and graduate certificates.

All registered students are eligible for services at the MSU Counseling Center. There is no fee for services provided.

MSU's Office of Student Housing encourages academic success, personal achievement, service and accountability. We strive to provide support to our students while continuing to meet their evolving needs. At the Camden-Carroll Library, we want to cultivate an environment that encourages your scholarly pursuits. Whether you're an MSU student or faculty member, diving into an extensive research project or a staff or community member looking for a good read, we're here to support those engaged in teaching, research, study, and the pursuit of knowledge.

ICT services

CCL's Request It Services include interlibrary loan for items we don't own, off-campus delivery for distance students, and office delivery for MSU employees.

Campus life

MSU is known as one of the safest campuses in the nation and has a longstanding tradition of emergency preparedness. The University’s police, safety, student success and counseling staff work with agencies throughout the community to review our readiness for natural or man-made emergencies.

Sports facilities

This state-of-the-art facility holds over 100 machines and equipment, allowing you to complete a total body workout each time you enter our doors. The variety and amount of new equipment increases your workout time while decreasing your wait. Machines are strategically placed throughout the facility, giving you the option to work out in the heart of the gym, or while enjoying the relaxing scenery of MSU's beautiful campus. New cardio equipment includes connections for your smartphone or mp3 player and built-in television monitors.
