About

History

The plans for what would become MSUM were laid down in 1885, when the Minnesota State Legislature passed a bill declaring the need for a new state normal school in the Red River Valley, with an eye on Moorhead.

Education

Minnesota State University Moorhead is an affordable, mid-sized, four-year public university with a private college appeal.

Research

Undergraduate Research One of the great strengths of an undergraduate degree at MSUM in the Biosciences Department is the opportunity to become involved in faculty-mentored research. Many faculty maintain active research that involve undergraduate collaborators. With faculty permission, any student can become involved in research starting in their freshman year.

Student Life

Campus life

When you live on campus, you’re just steps away from classes, study groups, social gatherings and athletic events. Living on campus is the part of university life that’s not held in a classroom, but teaches you just as much.

Student clubs

Blackfriars is the theatre student honor society and an MSUM service organization.  This club coordinates social activities, banquets and field trips for students interested in theatre. Membership is open to all currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff of Minnesota State University Moorhead.
