Konstfack is Sweden's largest and oldest university college of fine arts, founded in 1844.
Konstfack is the largest university college of arts, crafts and design in Sweden. Each year, about 900 students are enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, Doctoral Programme, Teacher Education programmes and courses for professionals.
Here at Sweden's largest fine arts university college, you can develop into and inhabit those obvious roles that stem from our programmes – artist, designer, interior architect, graphic designer, illustrator, teacher as well as a craftsperson in a range of materials – such as a jewellery designer. And of course there are a number of paths to take within the design field, from product and furniture design to designing services.
Research and Artistic development at Konstfack aims to broaden and deepen the school's existing body of knowledge in the areas of art, design, crafts, art education and visual communication in an environment that is analytical, critical and creative.
The research consists of both graduate students and several externally funded research projects in collaboration with many partners.
The research areas are:
There is a shortage of student accommodation in Stockholm. Please note that Konstfack cannot guarantee availability of student housing. You are therefore strongly advised to start to look for student accomodation or other housing well in advance.
Konstfack has one of Sweden’s largest art and design libraries.
The library provides books – and course literature – databases, and print and electronic journals.
The library also has a materials library with samples that can be borrowed, and a video collection with art videos that can be viewed in the library.
These include computer labs, woodwork and metalwork shops, screen-printing and textile printing facilities, weaving room, color workshop, graphics workshop, photographic and TV studios, glassworks, ceramics workshop and studios for sculpture and painting.
All students studying in Sweden are covered by the personal injury insurance (a general student insurance) that is obtained on behalf of universities and colleges within the state insurance system by “Kammarkollegiet”. The insurance applies in Sweden during school hours and during travel to and from the location where school hours are spent.
In 2004, Konstfack moved to Telefonplan, just south of Stockholm city center.
Our building is the former Ericsson telephone factory which has been converted into a 20,300 square meter art and design university college.
The first space you encounter when entering Konstfack is Vita Havet which constantly changes its appearance as new exhibitions and projects come and go.
There is also a gallery for exhibiting the students’ own works.
The Student Union is an organization governed by elected student representatives. The Student Union's board is responsible for representing student interests and helping to contribute to a postive study and social climate at Konstfack.
The Student Union is represented on different committees and boards at Konstfack.
