Tor Vergata University of Rome

Roma, Italy
The city of Rome has no need to be described: strolling around its street means living an extraordinary experience of art, tradition, history, fashion, food. Rome embraces Tor Vergata, a public university founded in 1982 who became in only 36 years a vibrant scientific environment, the ideal place to spend your academic life surrounded by its green hills and a welcoming community.

The University takes its name from the 14th Century "Turris Vergatae" that was owned by the Roman noble family of Annibaldi. In 1982, in the South-East district of the city of Rome, the University was founded by a group of brilliant professors and young fellow researchers, becoming chronologically the second public university of the city of Rome.

The six Schools at Tor Vergata offer programmes in English at all the Italian educational levels:

  • 3 Bachelor’s Degrees (3-year programmes)
  • 2 One-cycle Degrees (Medicine and Surgery, 6-year and Pharmacy, 5-year)
  • 15 Masters of Science/Art (2-year programmes)
  • 10 professional Masters (1-year programmes)
  • 7 PhD programmes

In 2016, the international research at the University of Rome Tor Vergata was founded for 114 projects (19 of them where ERC).

The majority of Tor Vergata departments have high quality indicators in the national VQR (Research Quality Evaluation); the most virtuous are: Economics and Finance and Mathematics (both first in their categories); Enterprise Engineering (third); Chemistry (fourth); Physics (fifth).

Tor Vergata has built a strong network oh national and international companies and yearly activates so many internships that our students enrolled to the courses held in English are for the 90% of them occupied with a 6-month or 1-year contract before the graduation.

Many of those contracts become job positions and our placement rate for the MSc reaches the 100% for some courses.
